Biography
Sia was born on December 18, 1975, in Adelaide, South Australia. Her mother taught art, while her father enjoyed music. For her studies, Sia attended Adelaide High School. Sia's father knew some members of the Australian rock band, INXS, and was friendly with Colin Hay, who was from Men at Work. This inspired Sia to value music regualarly. Sia was a fan of Sting, Stevie Wonder, and Aretha Franklin, who were her earliest influences in music.
Career
Sia began her musical career during the mid-1900s as a singer for the acid jazz band, Crisp from Adelaide. Crisp split up in 1997, which led to Sia releasing her album, "OnlySee," on December 23, which had 13 songs and 1200 copies sold. Sia moved to London and became a backing vocalist for Jamiroquai, a funk and acid jazz band. Sia also provided vocals for Zero 7, and their 3 studio albums, Simple Things (2001), Somersault, Speed Dial No.2, and When It Falls (2004). Sia's sixth studio album, 1000 forms of fear, released on July 4, 2014, which marked her return as a recording artist. Her album appeared on top of the US Billboard 200 and was certified gold by the RIAA. Sia's track, Chandelier, from the album was placed on #8 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
